Selection Process
The selection process begins when a player or individual has been nominated to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. IFL players, team owners and fans are encouraged to make nominations of those individuals that they feel are deserving of Hall of Fame consideration. To nominate an individual, please send an email to the Hall of Fame Director, Stan "Pops" Stankowski, at lstankowski2@wi.rr.com describing who and why you believe a certain individual is worthy of Hall of Fame honors. Nominations will be reviewed by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee who will make a final determination based on the following criteria.
Who can be elected:
- Players
- Coaches
- Contributors
- Board Members
Candidates will be evaluated using the following criteria:
- Character
- Ability
- Positive attitute towards the game of football and the IFL
- Leaderhip skills on and off the field
- Support of the league
- Deciding factor for his/her team's success
Hall of Fame selection process:
Charged with the vital task of continuing to be sure that the players or people selected are the finest the Ironman Football League has to offer. The Board will consist of 5 members. Every Inductee must have 5 years of service in the IFL to even be considered.
The Board can be replaced by retirement, resignation or termination.
The board of selectors meets annually after the Ironbowl. The meetings are mandatory and everyone must attend.
Every candidate is carefully scrutinized and must receive at least 80% approval before he can be elected. A scale of negative votes for elimination must be used in the selection process.
For a non-player, there is no mandatory retirement period; but a coach must be retired to be considered. Players must be retired for more than two (2) year or unable to play due to a career-ending injury or an unforeseen occurrence.
