A Colossus
March 9, 2008
“A man amongst boys,” one voice says.
“Truly a goliath,” shouts another.
Those are the voices of some opponents describing Nick Corgiat. When the Wauwatosa Spartans announced the signing of this perennial all-star lineman, it not only solidified their defensive front, but it also added tremendous size to their offensive line.
The 6’ 5” 360 pound lineman, who is also referred to as Colossus by his friends, can play both sides of the ball with equal excellence, and has earned All-Star status at both defensive and offensive tackle. Nick has a total of four years experience, all with a former team of the IFL. Like a lot of his former teammates, Nick decided to stay in the Ironman Football League even when his old team went somewhere else; he eventually signed with the Spartans.
When he’s not creating havoc on both sides of the ball, Nick likes to relax with his friends and spend time with his wife of one year, Amy. Off the field, Nick is a happy-go-lucky and shy kind of guy, but on the field he is of a much different nature. Nick dominates his opponent by physically beating them up and showing no remorse while doing it. “He’s a monster,” one teammate said, “The guy is so big that he just swallows anybody who comes into his path.”
Nick is one of the most dominant players in the IFL. As his numerous league honors exhibit, he is also extremely versatile. Prior to joining the IFL, he was all-conference while playing at Kettle Moraine High School before moving on to North Dakota State University.
“Nick is an important signing for us, not only because he’s a monster on the football field, but also because of the leadership and character he brings to the table,” said Adam Kujath, Spartans team owner. “He’s a big addition to our already talented group of lineman, and we’re excited to have him on board.”
The Spartans are a new franchise in the Ironman Football League, but their roster already reads as a who’s who of veteran IFL players. The addition of Nick Corgiat only makes the team that much stronger. If his past four years are any evidence of what the future might bring for the Spartans, they might be able to start building an addition to their trophy case and taking sizes for rings.
