Gladiators announce new coaching staff

Gladiators RB finds a crease

Beloit, WI – The decisions have been made after several meetings and interviews with potential candidates for the top coaching spots within the Rock County Gladiators Football Team.

Team owners AJ Albrecht Sr and Carter Linneman along with help from team captains, Dan Roberts and Tyler Honeck, have elected to hire Gary Koeberl as the new Head Coach and CJ Hill as the new Defensive Coordinator.

Gary will also be taking over as the Offensive Coordinator, after the departure of last seasons Coordinator, Dennis Brunner.

Gary moved to California after graduating from Janesville Craig High School. In California Coach K, as he likes to be called, coached for over 12 years at the High School, Semi-pro (CFA) and Junior National levels.

While coaching Gary has gone through the ranks of several different coaching positions, but usually ending up as the Offensive Coordinator or Head Coach for the team he was with.

As the Offensive Coordinator or Head Coach, seven of Coach K's teams have gone onto play in the playoffs and three have made it into the finals. Coach K had this to say about being hired as the new Head Coach of the Gladiators,

"I am very honored to be selected as the Head Coach of the Gladiators. As wins are earned in practice, respect is also earned and I look forward to earning all of your respect. I am excited to meet and talk with the rest of the staff and believe that we can take this team to next level. GO GLADIATORS!!"

Gary has also coached High School wrestling for over 13 years in California and Wisconsin and is currently an Assistant Coach for Janesville Craig's (8-3) wrestling program.

CJ comes to the team with over 8 years of Middle School, High School, Semi-pro and College football coaching experience, most recently as a Defensive Backs coach for University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Division III National Championship Football Team.

CJ has also been the Defensive Backs Coach for Janesville Parker's, 2006 Big 8 Conference Champions, Football Team along with past and current IFL teams; the Franklin Outlaws, 2007 IFL Champions, and Burlington Blue Devils.

CJ was also the Defensive Coordinator for the Milwaukee based Wisconsin Predators in 2005 and was the defensive play caller of Burlington's Darkside, which has been a major reason the Blue Devils have made the IFL's American Conference Championship Game the last two years.

CJ added to Coach K's statement by saying "I want to get started right away and will give 100% towards making the Gladiators defense the best in the IFL."

In 2009 CJ was also an Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the UW-Whitewater's Wheelchair Basketball National Championship Team.

Owner, Carter Linneman said this about Gary and CJ joining the Gladiators staff; "I believe that we have found the best combination of coaches for the team with hiring Gary and CJ. The bar has just been raised. With the experience and structure that these two bring to our organization along with the quality of players that are on this team, I see we are now ready to push the Gladiator Dynasty into the IFL. We want to be that team with the target on our backs and I think with the Gary and CJ doing the play calling we are one step closer to being that team."
