IFL Hall of Fame Game set to Kickoff on Saturday night

Hitmen QB

The Muskego Hitmen will face off against the Milwaukee Venom this weekend in the 2010 Ironman Football League Hall of Fame Game. The game will serve as an exhibition game and will be played on Saturday May 15, 2010, just one week before the IFL regular season is set to kickoff. The 2010 IFL Hall of Fame Game will kickoff at 7PM and will be played at the Milwaukee Sports Complex located at 6000 W. Ryan Road in Franklin, Wisconsin.

During halftime of the IFL Hall of Fame Game, seven more IFL legends will be immortalized into the IFL Hall of Fame. The class of 2010 will include Jason Blawat (coach), Dale Medrano (owner), Ken Kaiser (player), Reggie Lawrence (player), Jason Tomczyk (player), Dennis Podlesnik (player), and Mike Petesch (contributor).

The game will not only pit two quality playoff contending teams against each other, but it will also showcase one of the League’s nastiest rivalries. The Hitmen/Venom rivalry continues to grow in intensity every year as these two teams love to hate each other.

The rivalry started in 2006 when the Venom upset the Hitmen 13-6 on opening day.  Since then, the mood between the two teams has changed and the attitudes toward each other have grown bitter. In 2008, the Venom beat the Hitmen 21-14 in the opening round of the NFC Playoffs. The loss added injury to insult as it crushed Muskego’s hopes to return to the Ironbowl for a Championship bid. The following year, the two teams met yet again in the first round of the 2009 playoffs, but this time it was the Hitmen who got their revenge by beating the Venom 38-26. Exhibition or not, this is a Venom vs. Hitmen matchup and should be a great game to watch.
