Franchise ResourcesWest Bend Junkyard Dogs and the YMCA team up for "Healthy Kids Day"
On Saturday March 27th the West Bend Junkyard Dogs participated in the Kettle Moraine YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Players, coaches, and management volunteered their time and participated in the days activities.
The kids were treated to several different agility activities, along with learning respect and team work while having fun. The day started with a brief talk from trainer Linda Marx and then the kids were put through the paces of the four agility stations. Once all of the kids had done the agility drills they were divided into several teams and played a flag football game with members of the Junkyard Dogs.
All of the kids enjoyed the games and at the conclusion of each session the players signed autographs for all of the kids. This is just one of the many community activities that the West Bend Junkyard Dogs will be involved with this year.
“This has been an excellent event,” says Randy Koehler, General Manager of the West Bend Junkyard Dogs. “To see all the kids smiling and having fun while learning important lessons such as the value of teamwork and respect, this is really what it is all about.”
In addition to donating their time to the YMCA in helping kids with the Healthy Kids Day, the West Bend Junkyard Dogs have also agreed in assisting the YMCA with their 2010 Youth Flag Football Program. The Junkyard Dogs will lend their knowledge of the game by mentoring the many YMCA volunteer coaches in devising a successful coaching strategy to better teach the game of football.
The Junkyard Dogs have played an active role in the last couple of years in giving back to their community through annual support programs. Such programs have included the YMCA, participating in reading programs to help youth, fundraising to assist in covering expenses for hospitalized children and much, much, more. Team officials proudly announced that they have added additional support programs that involve the community in which they will be participating in throughout the 2010 season.
