The entertainer
July 28, 2008
Born in Milwaukee WI, in 1981 Cedric McFadden was destined to be great. He attended Milwaukee Hamilton High School where he played football and ran track and field.
After graduating he went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. At this time he thought his football career was over until in 2005 he was approached by the Waukesha County Soldiers of the Ironman Football League to try-out for running back. McFadden knew this was the rebirth he needed.
He had a standout first year as a rookie in the IFL becoming one of the leagues premiere running backs and continued to play with the Soldiers for two years until after their merger with the former Oak Creek Cyclones.
In the beginning of the 2007 season bad news hit close to home for McFadden, his father was diagnosed with cancer. With the support of loving teammates he left the state and the game to be with his father but after a short leave of absence he returned to finish the season.
Almost losing his passion for the game McFadden states “I kept playing hard and never gave up, just like my dad told me to do.”
In December of 2007 his father lost his hard fought battle with cancer but McFadden expresses his thanks to the woman who supported him through this difficult time.
“I especially thank my wonderful trainer Bobbi Jo for pushing me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I would not have made it this long in the league without her, even after my greatest loss in life.” McFadden says.
Now a member of the Wauwatosa Spartans, McFadden is rejuvenated and is having the most fun he has ever had in his football career. He says he is excited to finally play on a team in which every player shares the same common denominator, and that is to WIN.
“There are no egos, just a family of guys who each know their individual role on the team which allows them to get the job done” McFadden says.
McFadden is known by his teammates as the comedian of the team because he is always laughing and joking even when the coaches are yelling at him. His nickname is “the entertainer” not just because of his playmaking abilities on the field but because he is always trying to hold back his laughter.
This year he is happy, relaxed and feels at home with the Spartans. His comfort level really shows on the field as he is a big part of the Spartan offense as his hard nosed running has consistently slashed defenses this year.
But McFadden refuses to take the credit as he is quick to thank his teammates for the on field success. “Without the big boy’s on the O-line, the fullback, wide receivers and tight ends I wouldn’t be able to do anything on the field.” McFadden says, “I pay homage to you, thanks guys! GO SPARTA!!!”
