IFL All-Star Bobby Windom is poised for greatness
August 7 , 2006
Bobby Windom, born in Milwaukee, WI on September 9th 1980, the perfect time to be born, during football season. His mom was watching a football game while she was in labor, which goes to show why this West Allis Predator bleeds and sweats football.
In his younger years, Bobby played for a couple of youth football teams, including the Auer Avenue Bandits and the Bay View Area Red Cats. In those years, he was a utility player, playing almost every position on the offensive side of the ball. Finally, Bobby found his place on the field where he decided to stay throughout his football career, running back.
Entering high school, Bobby attended Milwaukee Tech High School, where he shared the backfield with former Minnesota Viking running back Michael Bennett. Throughout his high school career, Bobby smelled a state championship every year, but never making it to the big dance. Coming up short with three consecutive conference championships, Bobby was happy but yet he was still hungry for a ring.
After graduating from high school with honors, Bobby attended the University of Wisconsin Madison, where the Badgers recruited him to walk-on to earn a scholarship. Unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned, so he decided to forget about football and to get an education. It was not that easy for Bobby to give up football, so he decided to transfer to a smaller school where he could do both.
In 2000, Bobby attended Concordia University so that he could pursue his degree in Business Communications and Education and he also had the opportunity to play the game that he loved the most. Having four winning seasons at Concordia University, Bobby finally got the championship ring that he'd always wanted in his final year at Concordia.
After graduating from college Bobby still had the heart and desire to play football and didn't want it to end. He went online and began his search for a league and team to play for. After checking out the Ironman Football League website, Bobby got in touch with the owner of the West Allis Predators. He learned that the Predators were a new team in the Ironman Football League and that they had a home for him. In his rookie season with the Predators, Bobby gained enough respect to be named to the IFL All-Star team at half-back. We can expect great things from this up and coming IFL All-Star in the future as he has his sights set on another championship.
