IFL tackles cancer

July 23, 2008

The Ironman Football League acknowledges the fact that breast cancer is the number one cancer found in women today. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in women. According to the American Cancer Society, 1.3 million women will be diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Every two minutes there is a new breast cancer diagnosis. Breast cancer can also affect men, but is one hundred times less common in men then among women. Estimating for 2008, 1,990 new cases of breast cancer will be found in men. And thanks to advances in testing and treatment, breast cancer is less deadly than ever, and curing it is not as toxic, disfiguring ordeal it once was.

The IFL is proud to tackle cancer head on by bringing Breast Cancer Awareness Day throughout the IFL on July 26th, 2008. In a fight for a cause, IFL teams will support the color pink.
