The crusade goes on
July 23 , 2007
The Fond du Lac Crusaders were able to keep their slim playoff hopes alive by beating their conference rival Madison Mustangs 21-20.
The win sets up a do or die game against the Lake Country Cyclones next Saturday night. The Crusaders (3-4) need to beat the Lake Country Cyclones (4-3) at Hartland, Arrowhead to stay alive for the chance to earn the fourth seed in the playoffs. A Cyclone win will all but end the Crusaders quest for the coveted Joe Chudada Memorial Trophy in 2007.
Last Saturday the Crusaders beat the heavily favored Mustangs in a see-saw battle that wasn't decided till late in the game. For the most part, the big blue wreaking crew shut down the Mustang running game and double covered the ever so dangerous Reggie Davis, making life miserable for the Madison Mustangs. Despite missing some starters on both sides of the ball, the Mustangs rallied and never gave up. Even though the Mustangs gave their best effort, the Crusaders were not going to be denied as they squeaked by with a one point victory winning the game 21-20.
The game next Saturday night between the Lake Country Cyclones and the Fond du Lac Crusaders should be a great one as both teams are playoff hungry. Kickoff is set for 5PM.
