Crusaders tame the Panthers 17-0
June 11, 2007
The Fond Du Lac Crusaders opened the 2007 season last Saturday afternoon at home against the Milwaukee Panthers and their tenacious defense led by Linebacker Johnny Bridgewater. It was a warm, sunny afternoon and the large Fond Du Lac crowd was buzzing with anticipation of the rematch of the hard fought 2006 season opener in which the Crusaders edged out the Panthers 20 -14.
Saturday's game proved to be another incredible defensive battle with both teams being held scoreless in the first quarter. The Crusaders offense found some momentum in the second quarter scoring on a 25 yard field goal and a 61 yard strike from Quarterback Steve Lang to receiver Mo (Mo touchdowns) Jenkins. The only other score of the game came in the third quarter on a 57 yard pass from Lang to Courtney Gatlin. The big blue wreaking crew held the Panthers offense in check all day long as the Crusaders preserved the shut-out and the win 17-0. The Crusaders are looking forward to a great season with a new coaching staff including Brian Immel head coach, Ron Walters Offensive Coordinator, and Josh Navis Defensive Coordinator.
Next week The Panthers and their strong defense head to the Windy City to face the Buccaneers while the Crusaders hit the road and head to the Milwaukee Sports Complex in Franklin to take on the Milwaukee Maniacs.
