Distin lives every mans dream

The first reaction most have when hearing about a wedding at Halftime of last Saturday nights Lake Country Cyclone football game is “how did she ever agree to that?” Fortunately for Derek Distin, his answer sums it up well, “It was her idea.”
Last Saturday night, the Lake Country Cyclones took on the Crusaders from Fond du Lac in a very important game for both teams. The pressure to win was intense as this game had serious playoff implications for both the Cyclones and Crusaders.
But the only thing that Laura Cote the lovely bride to be was hoping for is that Derek Distin, the Cyclones quarterback, would be uninjured and be able to concentrate on his vows at halftime.
The couple had a timed ceremony at halftime, including Distins quick change from his gameday uniform to his suit, without showering. In a change that would make superman jealous, the lovely couple was pronounced man and wife on the 50 yard line by former Cyclones coach Ralph Modjeska.
Modjeska serves as the fire department chaplain for the towns of Lisbon, Pewaukee and Sussex, as well as serving as the alternate chaplain for Waukesha Memorial Community Hospital.
Family, friends and teammates surrounded the couple as they exchanged rings and their vows. After their kiss, Distin hurried back to the locker room, changed in to his gameday uniform and led his team to a 10-7 victory over the Crusaders. This was truly something that had a story book finish; the star quarterback wins the game and gets the girl.
The wedding also garnered a lot of local media attention as Channel FOX 6 News was there to film the ceremony and hung around and did a couple of interviews. The IFL would like to congratulate Derek and Laura Distin on their new marriage as they begin their wonderful life together.
