Rock County Gladiators join the IFL
October 10, 2007
The mighty Gladiators formerly from the NIFL (Northwest Indiana Football League) who complied a perfect 12-0 season on their way to becoming 2007 league champs is now a member of the Ironman Football League. Chris Chudada announced Tuesday that he is very excited that the Gladiators are a new member of the IFL. “This is a team we had very high on our list; they are a top notch organization from the front office all the way down to the players on the field. I was not only impressed with their professionalism but what was even more impressing was their level of competition on the field considering that they were only a first year team.” Chudada says.
The Gladiators destroyed their competition last year by out scoring their opponents 395-108. The Rock County Gladiators have made great strides since they started operations about a year ago. The team is owned by Carter Linnemann (Head Coach) and Brian Worth (General Manager).
In their first year the Gladiators were able to recruit players from all over Rock County including Beloit, Janesville and Milton. Their player's experience's range from not playing much HS ball to D1 College starters. The coaching staff of Dennis Brunner (Off Coord), Donald Harrington (O Line), Tony Clayton (Spec Teams), Melvin Fields/Brian Worth (D Line) and Jerome Ayers (D Backs) along with Head Coach Carter Linnemann did a tremendous job of bringing so many players of different backgrounds together in a short amount of time.
Rock County Football Park is the home of the Gladiators in Beloit, WI. It is located at 1221 Henry Ave and they host their home games at 3:00pm.
“We are really excited about joining the IFL. I am looking forward to the challenge of playing AAA ball in such a competitive league. Last year we were able to play 3 IFL teams in non-conference games that those games really taught us a lot about who we are and what we needed to do to grow,” said Linnemann.
"In addition to the higher level of competition, I am looking forward to being in the larger league and with more established teams. Being in our second year and keeping the majority of our players, coaches and staff the Gladiators and our fans have a lot to look forward to in 2008," said Worth.
The Gladiators play their home games at Rock County Football Park in Beloit Wisconsin. For more information on the Gladiators, please log onto www.rcgladiators.com.
