4 Games rescheduled due to severe weather

June 8, 2008

Waukesha, WI – One of the worst storms in over 45 years hit Waukesha and its surrounding counties Saturday night.

The severe weather caused the cancellation of four IFL season opening games. Both Waukesha South High School and Carroll College cancelled their double headers due to safety concerns. Both locations had to evacuate the stadiums so that fans and players could seek shelter from heavy rainfall and possible tornados that were being reported.

However, not all of the IFL games were cancelled last weekend. The McHenry County Pirates beat the Milwaukee Marauders 17-16 at home in an inter-league game. And the Roscoe Rush traveled to Beloit last Saturday to take on the Rock County Gladiators in an American Conference showdown. The Rush was able to beat the Gladiators 30-24 in an overtime thriller.

On Sunday, the Muskego Hitmen hit the road to face their arch nemesis, the Madison Mustangs. On a very wet and rainy night the Madison Mustangs were leading at halftime 36-0. The game was forced to end during the third quarter due to multiple lighting strikes. Both teams came to a mutual agreement and decided that the game will not be rescheduled and will be considered a Mustang win.

League officials said on Sunday night that the games that were suppose to be played at Waukesha South and Carroll College last Saturday night will be rescheduled and added at the end of the season.
