Spartans at a Glance

The Wauwatosa Spartans Football Club joined the IFL for the 2008 season and enjoyed immediate success with winning seasons, IFL all-stars and playoff runs. The team strives to be recognized on the national level as well, and has appeared in various national rankings, tournaments, bowl games and has had numerous All-American and all-tournament player selections. As a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, the team also strives to have a positive impact off the field and in the community. The Spartans call Raabe Field on the campus of Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa its home field, which is equipped with field turf and provides a first-class venue for home games. In addition, the team's signature dance group, the Sirens, appear at all home games to provide fans an added level of excitement.

About the Community

Wauwatosa is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and was incorporated on May 27, 1897. As of the 2006 census estimate, the city's population was 44,798. Wauwatosa is located immediately west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is a part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It is named after the Potawatomi word for firefly. Wauwatosa contains three major medical centers, which includes the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and Froedtert Hospital, one of two level-one trauma centers in the state. Other points of interest are the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; and the Memorial Center, built in 1957, which contains the public library, an auditorium, and the city hall.
